Spring Bouquet

Looky here. We have a beautiful blue and white ceramic piece and some posies.

Well hello, it's just a common toothbrush holder and some faux flowers from the dollar store!

How sweet beside the powder room sink.

Let's try that again gals. I found this lovely toothbrush holder at the Goodwill for $1.25. I added
4 small floral bushes, $1 each from the dollar store.

inserting each bunch, I then proceeded to intermingle the stems for a homogenous look.

Looking pretty good with a doily beneath, but it still needs more shaping.
Here it is how lovely! Later I will post a photo of the final bouquet
with some cute Easter eggs on stems poked in.

English Dishes

Botanic Garden by Portmeirion-England

Click on pictures to enlarge image then click on back arrow to reduce it again!

I have a confession to make. I am a dish girl. Yes, I have several sets and lust for more!
Today I am switching out my Pomona for Botanic Garden. I have not used the Botanic garden for about 5 years.

Pomona

Botanic Garden

Six full place setting of Pomona plus extra here and there.

These dishes have been very sturdy. I like them because each piece is different for a nice variety. My favorite you ask? The cherries on the Pomona, and well I guess the cyclamen for the Botanic Garden.

How long do you think it will take the Cottage Guy to notice the switch? Check back later and I'll let you know! See comments below this post for the answer.

This Botanic Garden butter dish was actually my mothers, the only piece she had so it is very sentimental to me. It is much more faded than the other pieces because it is so much older.

Notice how both sets of dishes work well with the green checked placemats!

Some of my extra pieces, gifts from past coworkers!
They gave me some of the pieces at various times, when I got married, my birthday and lastly when I resigned from The Bon Marche-Bridal Registry department. Those lovely China,Crystal and Silver department gals were wonderful, and I will remember them always!

Savings Tip

I'm thinking about money these days....saving it! Today I found a wonderful web site to print coupons. Lately I've noticed the Sunday paper coupons are for things I don't need or use. Often the products are the higher priced ones even after the coupon. Well COUPON MOUNTAIN has a wide variety of coupons for everyday products. Check it out and save a little or a lot!

Sweet Granddaughter

New Grandson

This is a photo of my eldest son holding his newborn son Carter, born February 3rd. We flew to Seattle to meet our new grandson and boy is he cute and cuddly! Carter has an older sister, Haley who is almost 3. It was a difficult pregnancy for my daughter in law but the worst is over and both parents are overjoyed with the fabulous result-a healthy baby boy! Welcome to your family Carter Michael!!

It's St. Patrick's Day!

Leprechauns, Showing your Green, Pot O'Gold.

Ever hear of Black Velvet? Here it is in a couple of champagne flutes.
Recipe: 5 ounces of Guinnes poured in a glass. Then slowly pour champagne on top and enjoy!

These little guys are all around the cottage today!

A fine meal the Cottage Guy made for the first time; Corned Beef Brisket with cabbage. He added some of our carrots we are growing in the garden. A tasty dish...oops he forgot the bay leaves, but it's not too late. Sprinkled with pepper. Now do you use a fork or a spoon?

Saturday Chickens

Ahh, it's Saturday. Not just any Saturday, but the first Saturday of the month! That can only mean one thing to me...FLEA MARKET!!! I was out the door at 8:30 AM which is earlier than I leave for work during the week.

I found these lovely and HEAVY rooster bookends. Very useful too! Then I purchased another useful item-the trivet which I really needed.

I also bought one of those photo boards that you tuck pictures into. Sweet, but I am thinking on changing the fabric.
