Lavendar Harvest

A bounty of blooms.
The lavendar is about three years old and potted in a large planter snug in the garden bed. The wind blows the lovely fragrance up onto the deck area far enough away to avoid the many bees attracted to the scent.

Willie and I are inspecting the lavendar to see if it is ready to pick. These stems are long and the buds are not quite open yet. Willie loves to stiff at the frangrant flowers!

Picked in the morning. I used the kitchen scissors to get a good clean cut.

Each stem is stripped of the buds.

My hands smell like lavendar.

I wonder how much this would cost if I had to buy as much?
This can be used for drawer sachet, the bath water, potpourri, candle or soap making
and lots more uses. I'll keep it in a tightly closed jar until needed.
Why don't you plant some lavendar yourself?

  1. Well, I'm certainly glad you came by and left such nice comments. I bought two small lavendar plants this spring but they are still in the store containers! They are doing well for all the neglect they received. I'm inspired now to find them a nice home in the ground!

  2. Mmmm, lavender! Love it! I see you have a rooster on your calendar. I enjoyed listening to Carol King in the bachground!

  3. I love your lavender. I keep trying to grow it here in Southwestern PA. Our winters are so weird here, I have to find the right spot in the garden. So far no luck...I'll keep trying though!

Your photos are lovely. What a nice area you live in. I've only been to Williamsburg once but want to go back someday. We took a few garden tours...they are so beautiful. Love your photos from the farmers market as well.

    Sending happy thoughts ~~~ Jenn
